Our Mission
The Alliance is comprised of a diverse assembly of area cat groups, who all share the same goal - fewer cats on the streets of Prince George's County.
Our Mission
It is the mission of the Prince George’s Community Cat Alliance to humanely reduce the free roaming cat population of Prince George’s County through spay/neuter, adoption of friendly cats and kittens, and Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return of unsocialized free roaming cats.
Our Values
We believe that all cats should be treated in a humane manner and be allowed to live out their natural lifespan. We also believe that property owners and tenants have a right to enjoy their property. We believe that by working together, we can achieve both of these goals harmoniously.
What is Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return?
Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) is the process of trapping free-roaming cats, transporting them to a veterinarian to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated for rabies, and then returning them to the site where they were originally found. The tip of the left ear is clipped during TNVR to identify that the cat has been through this program. TNVR provides a long-term solution to concerns about community cats by reducing their population. The returned cats are healthier after TNVR and countless kittens, many of which would have died on the streets, are not born. TNVR is a program that cat lovers and property owners can endorse as it produces positive residents, cat lovers, and community cats.
